about
‘Love Is The Enemy’ is the debut single by Star Circus, the brainchild of Dave Winkler(Annabella's Bow Wow-Wow, Ryan Hamilton, Love & Bullets, Renegade Playboys). It's a power-pop party and a melodic rock feast of fun!
It leads off an album that’s set for release IN 2021, produced by Tony Wilson, creator of the BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show and long-time collaborator with DJ Tommy Vance. Tony’s seen a fair share of artists rise and fall in his five decade tenure in the music business.
"Dave first played me the demos & I was blown away by them - song after song crammed with catchy riffs and commercial hooks! I knew straight away that I’d love to work on this album and bring these fabulous songs to life. There’s a lot more work to do to complete the album but it’s a great moment seeing the first single finally launched." - Tony Wilson (Friday Rock Show, John Peel Sessions, TotalRock)
"The song was inspired by watching mindless American sitcoms after a break-up from a decade-long relationship. So much obsession with love and marriage, it was almost vomit-inducing! I’m in a very different headspace now, but it’s a great anthem for those who just want to get out and be themselves for a while.... In the last few years I've gained the confidence to sing my own songs instead of being 'just the guitar player', having been thrust into fronting tribute bands such as Ozzy OzzSpawn and the Black Charade. I've realised that life is about stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something new…"
Since completing six tours with Ryan Hamilton, including dates in the USA, and sold-out shows around the country with the Black Charade, that itch to get out and tour has been scratched a bit. So Dave’s emphasis shifted to making a great album and getting his own songs out there.
The album will feature some other great players such as Dan Stevens (Inglorious), Tom Draper (Carcass, Angelwitch) and features some backing vocals from Ben Christo (Sisters of Mercy).
lyrics
Love Is The Enemy
I don’t believe in fairytales
I keep my heart in a box
And the keys down a wishing well
My lust for life ain’t up for sale
I fight my battles alone
Don’t need a succubus on my tail
I don’t want another romance
I just gotta break these chains
And fly so free
I don’t even wanna slow dance
Sometimes I feel like
Love, love, love is the Enemy
I’ve done my time in prison cells
I put my heart on the line
And my soul through a living hell
Don’t hear the sound of wedding bells
Until I see you again in another life it’s farewell
I don’t want another romance
I just gotta break these chains
And fly so free
I don’t even wanna slow dance
Sometimes I feel like
Love, love, love is the Enemy
One night stands and one time things
I don’t need fate to pull the strings
It’s time for me to spread my wings
And I hear the demons scream (Oh Oh)
Love’s just a broken dream, no!
I don’t want another romance
I just gotta break these chains
And fly so free
I don’t even wanna slow dance
Sometimes I feel like
Love is the Enemy
I don’t want another romance
I just gotta break these chains
And fly so free
Don’t even wanna slow dance
Sometimes I feel like
Love, love, love is the Enemy
